    Huntsville warning of police, fire presence at old city hall

    HUNTSVILLE, Ala ( WHNT ) — The City of Huntsville is warning residents that they may see police and fire crews around the old city hall starting this weekend.

    Authorities said the Huntsville Police Department (HPD) and Huntsville Fire and Rescue (HFR) will be conducting training exercises beginning on Saturday, Oct 5 at the old city hall building on Fountain Circle. The training sessions, which focus on public safety will run until Sunday, Oct. 13.

    The city said a large police and fire presence will be in the area during each of the training exercises.

    According to city officials, HFR will begin its exercises on Oct. 5 and Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fire department will also hold training exercises on Oct. 7-9 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and from Oct. 12-13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

    HPD is set to hold its exercises from Oct. 7 to Oct. 11 from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.
