    DeKalb County Sheriff details 16 arrests for drug charges in September

    DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. ( WHNT ) — The Dekalb County Sheriff details 16 arrested for drug related charges in the month of September.

    In the month of September, DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said the department seized 361 grams of methamphetamine, 360 grams of marijuana, eight grams of fentanyl and one gram of synthetic marijuana.

    Sheriff Welden said there was a total of 22 drug cases and one search warrant.

    On September 3, Sheriff Welden said DeKalb County Deputies responded to a vehicle accident on County Road 27. Sheriff Welden said deputies found synthetic marijuana in the vehicle. Deputies arrested 29-year-old Nicholas James Lane and he was taken to DeKalb Regional Hospital.

    After arriving at the hospital, Lane reportedly pulled out his IV and fled on foot. A short time later, agents with the narcotics division found Lane at a nearby gas station.

    Lane was charged wit unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI (controlled substance).

    On September 8, Fyffe Police Department officers stopped a vehicle after identifying the driver as 42-year-old James David Sisk. Officers said he had active warrants.

    During the traffic stop, officers would methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Sisk was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and third-degree escape.

    On September 9, Collinsville Police Department officers stopped a vehicle on I-59. Once officers stopped the vehicle, they said they found around 14 grams of methamphetamine inside.

    Officers arrested and charged 51-year-old Alejandro Sustaita Aguilar with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession with intent to distribute.

    On September 11, DeKalb County Narcotics agents stopped a vehicle on County Road 579 in Powell. Agents said the driver tried to run from them but was arrested after a brief chase.

    Agents said they found marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. 45-year-old Shawn Michael Galloway was arrested and charged with attempting to elude officers, second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and eight failure to appear warrants.

    Also on September 11, DeKalb County Deputies stopped a vehicle on County Road 155 in Higdon. Officers said when they asked the driver for his name, 55-year-old Bobby Lee Morgan gave them a fake name.

    When officers ran his tag, they found out Morgan had a probation revocation warrant out of Georgia on a vehicular homicide charge. Once officers searched the vehicle, they also found drug paraphernalia inside.

    Morgan was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and using a false ID to obstruct justice.

    On September 15, DeKalb County Deputies arrived at a home on County Road 462 in Geraldine to search for 46-year-old Paul Bryan McGreer Rains. Deputies said Rains was found inside the home with methamphetamine on him. Drug paraphernalia was also found inside the home.

    Deputies said 47-year-old Amanda Leigh Ferguson was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

    Rains was arrested and charged with two counts of unlawful possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance, two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and two counts of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

    Also on September 15, Dekalb County Deputies were dispatched to County Road 1930 in Crossville for underage drinking. When deputies arrived, they saw a white man run into a camper and heard several bottles being knocked over.

    Deputies made contact with 27-year-old Christopher Dewayne Richards and had everyone inside the camper step out. Deputies said several juveniles stepped out of the camper along with 32-year-old Danielle Patricia Richards and 23-yera-old Logan Blake Richards.

    Deputies found alcohol bottles and drug paraphernalia inside the camper.

    Christopher, Danielle and Logan Richards were all charged with three counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and contributing to delinquency of a minor.

    September 20, Collinsville Police Department Officers responded to a home on Ellisa Ave to help on a call. While officers were there, they identified 34-year-old Nicholas Steven Wolgast. Officers said Wolgast had active warrants.

    While inside the home, officers found drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine. Wolgast was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

    On September 24, DeKalb County Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle on County Road 792 in the Deer Head Cove area. Deputies said the driver of the vehicle sped up and the passenger started throwing items out of the window.

    When deputies got the car to stop, deputies arrested 34-year-old Shereela Lashay Underwood, 39-year-old Jessie Waylon Givens and 58-year-old Kimberly Adell Schwam. Other deputies and Sheriff Welden rounded up the items thrown from the vehicle and found fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.

    Underwood was charged with trafficking in any illegal drug, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Givens was charged with trafficking in any illegal drug, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal littering. Schwam was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

    On September 29, DeKalb County Deputies and Alabama State Troopers stopped a vehicle near County Road 380 and 25 in the Aroney area. The vehicle, driven by 28-year-old Austin Lee Morgan, had outstanding warrants with DCSO.

    During the stop, officers saw objects being thrown from the vehicle. When they collected the items, they found methamphetamine, pills and a clear liquid.

    Morgan was charged with probation revocation, second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of drug counterfeit device and three counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

    Deputies said the liquid was sent for testing and when results come back, Morgan could face additional charged.

    On September 30, DeKalb County Deputies and Narcotics Agents received a call of a man walking in the middle of the road acting suspicious. Officers reached the man, identified as 39-year-old Brandon Eugene Graham.

    Deputies said Graham had active warrants with several agencies. He was found to have methamphetamine and marijuana on him. Graham was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
