FLORENCE, Ala. ( WHNT ) — A Florence man has been arrested after police say he refused to leave a residence and assaulted a police officer on Monday.

According to the Florence Police Department, on Oct. 7 at around 6 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of North Franklin Street to help a homeowner with an unwanted guest.

FPD said the unwanted guest was Tyler Reeves, 31, of Florence who had warrants for his arrest.

Officers said Reeves slammed the glass door on them two times and during the second slamming, an officer tried to grab him and got his arm deeply cut by the door, causing the glass to shatter.

Reeves was taken into custody and charged with assault of a police officer and resisting arrest. The officer was treated and released from the North Alabama Medical Center.
