TUSCUMBIA, Ala. ( WHNT ) — Dekevon Williams is the man charged in a shooting that happened Sunday night on Paul E Johnson Memorial Drive in Tuscumbia.

Williams had a blank stare and slowly walked into the courtroom on Wednesday for a pretrial docket hearing.

Williams is accused of shooting and killing Nathan Littleton, Sunday night at a house on Paul E Johnson Memorial Drive.

Police Chief Tony Logan, told News 19 more about what events led up to the gunfire.

“Williams who is the alleged shooter, showed up at the residence, according to witnesses, there was an altercation or confrontation between the two and then Williams opened fire,” Logan said.

Chief Logan says it was a brutal shooting.

“We can confirm that there were five gunshot wounds to the victim, and one of those gunshot wounds was to the back of the head,” Logan said.

Police say when they arrived at the house, Williams was found close by and taken into custody for questioning later police searched his car, which Chief Logan says turned up an important lead.

“We located a 5-shot 44 magnum revolver, which is consistent with the wounds on the victim of that night,” Logan said. “It’s a very powerful handgun, and to shoot that type of handgun five times obviously gives you, the motivation that the shooter wanted to make sure the victim was dead.”

Chief Logan says they are still waiting on Littleton’s autopsy. As far as Williams, he is being held at Colbert County Jail.
