HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Sam Marsh could act anywhere, but we are lucky to have him walk the boards here in Huntsville.

He’s played Atticus Finch, Randle McMurphy, and now – the Wizard in The Wizard of Oz.

The Wizard of Oz opens on October 18. His role as “The Wizard” may be the one that means the most to him.

Sam has spent much of the 12 months recovering from oral cancer.  Imagine being a passionate actor who loves the craft and in the course of treatment, not being able to talk for an extended time.

In fact, the auditions for The Wizard of Oz were the first time he spoke publicly after an extended period of silence. He couldn’t talk.

But Sam is back.  That recovery has been successful. Sam is back on stage with the Fantasy Playhouse production of The Wizard of Oz.
