GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Scottsboro and Guntersville have met on the gridiron 88 times over the years, the first meeting between these two packs of Wildcats was back in 1914 when Scottsboro was actually Jackson County High School.

This year, we got the 89th meeting between the programs.

Jack’s Game of the Week: Athens vs. Muscle Shoals

Last season, Guntersville won this matchup 20-6, en route to the program’s 13th region championship.

Both teams are in search of a region title once again and this week seven showdown will make a huge impact on the standings in class 5A region 8.

So whose cats are coming out on top Tyler Vann or Lance Reese? Let’s find out.

A top 10 battle at Chorba-Lee stadium, number nine Scottsboro vs. number two Guntersville, let’s get to the action.

Jack’s Game of the Week: Austin vs Florence

First-quarter action, home team offense out on the field, Street Smith hands it off to Julyon Jordan. Jordan dodges a defender, and he is endzone bound, Guntersville strikes first in our Jack’s Game of the Week.

The visiting Wildcats are trying to respond, Jake Jones takes the snap and it’s a quarterback draw. Jones bursts through the middle and is on the move, QB1 takes it all the way to the 21-yard line, first down and much more for Scottsboro.

Trying to capitalize on the good field position, Jones pitches it to Jayden Gilbert. Gilbert’s on the run to get the first down, and he’s fighting with his whole body to get some more yardage, he stretches but the ball pops loose and Guntersville recovers the fumble down on the one-yard line.

Heads up play by the Guntersville defense.

Guntersville would run away winning this one 34-7 to stay undefeated.
