    Huntsville police arrest one for Meridian Street shooting

    HUNTSVILLE, Ala. ( WHNT ) — The Huntsville Police Department said it has arrested a man after a shooting on Saturday that left one dead and another critically injured.

    HPD said Jordan Latrell Smith, 21, of Huntsville, was arrested and charged with reckless murder Wednesday. He was booked into the Madison County Jail around 2 p.m.

    The department said the shooting happened at a gas station at 3310 Meridian St. at about 9:50 p.m. 22-year-old Damien Obrien Manning was pronounced dead on the scene and a second victim remains hospitalized in critical condition.

    HPD said the major crimes unit is investigating the incident and more arrests are expected.
