Week Seven Tyler Mann Team of the Week: Guntersville Wildcats

GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. ( WHNT ) — The Wildcats are coming off a big region win over Scottsboro 34-7 in week seven, and they are the Tyler Mann Team of the Week.

In the 15 years that Lance Reese has been the head coach of the Guntersville program, he’s pieced together three undefeated seasons, and 2024 is looking like it could end in that same fashion.

“Yeah, I feel like we’ve really kind of improved as the season’s gone down, played a really difficult schedule. And so it’s been a big game almost every week,” said head coach Lance Reese. “So we’ve had to keep the focus on us and just trying to get better. Offensively, I’d say we’ve found more balance. We feel like we’ve got good receivers and good running backs, so it’s important to get them the ball and the offensive line really come on.”

“I think we’ve really started to mesh well. That was one of our struggles at the beginning of the year. But, you know, we’re coming together and it’s showing now. So very excited for playoffs and stuff,” said Guntersville senior running back Julyon Jordan.

“I feel like we all just came in to go. You know obviously, that was a big game. You know solving for the number one spot in the region. So we had to win that when we just focus on Boaz now,” added Guntersville senior running back Enelson Delva.

“The Scottsboro win is made. The boats win that much bigger. So we’ve got to go on the road play. Boaz, Coach Sullivan does a great job. It’s going to be their senior night. That’s when they’ll be ready to go. So this big win is. That was last week. We’ve got to get focused on playing this week,” Reese said.
