Mill Road ditch improvement project now delayed

MADISON Ala. ( WHNT ) — Madison City Officials have announced a ditch improvement project that was expected to take a full year to complete is now delayed.

City officials previously told News 19 that Mill Road would be closed to traffic between Balch Road and Red Oak Road for the ditch improvements. The closure was expected to begin on Monday, October 21, and is expected to last for one year.

The city announced Thursday that the closure has now been delayed until further notice.

In a post on social media, the city said the delay comes after its engineering team had a meeting with contractors Thursday morning.

“It was decided that other options to minimize the duration and timing of the Mill Road closure need to be reevaluated, and thus, the previously announced closure is delayed until further notice,” the post said.
