School crossing guard injured after being hit by vehicle on Wall Triana Hwy

MADISON, Ala. ( WHNT ) — A school crossing guard was injured after being hit by a vehicle on Friday morning in Madison.

HEMSI spokesperson Don Webster told News 19 that the crash took place at 4976 Wall Triana Highway around 7:27 a.m.

Webster said that the woman was taken to Huntsville Hospital Trauma Services and that she is in critical but stable condition at this time.

A Madison City Schools spokesperson confirmed to News 19 that the woman hit by a vehicle was a school crossing guard at West Madison Pre-K Center.

The vehicle vs. pedestrian crash temporarily shutdown Wall Triana Highway near West Madison Pre-K. Wall Triana Highway will be closed from Gillespie Road to Eastview Drive until further notice.

City officials are asking drivers to avoid the area at this time and to seek alternate routes.
