    Morgan County deputies add K-9 Jeb to join the team

    MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. ( WHNT ) — The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office recently added a new K-9 deputy to the team.

    MCSO said that K-9 deputy Jeb, a bloodhound, serves as a tracking K-9.

    On Thursday, deputies received a call from the Courtland Police department requesting assistance with tracking a suspect with multiple felony warrants wo had ran into a wooded area.

    K9 Deputy Jeb and his handler Deputy Kendrick were able to locate the suspect after tracking him for about 500 yards.

    MCSO added that bloodhounds are known to have the strongest noses among dogs with 300 million scent receptors compared to humans who have only 5 million.

    According to deputies, bloodhounds have a history of tracking of up to 150 miles.
