Free school supplies for students and families at Back 2 School Bash

DES MOINES, Iowa — Back 2 School Iowa is hosting the 19th annual Back 2 School Bash this Sunday at John R. Grubb YMCA.

Deidre DeJear, Shekinah Young, and Nicole Bartolozzi with Back 2 School Iowa joined Today in Iowa Sunday to talk about the 1,000 backpacks being given out today and other activities available to families there.

The event runs from 2-5 p.m., with the supplies lasting until all the backpacks are given out. There is free food, entertainment, carnival games, and more.

DeJear said that families start lining up at 10 a.m., advising those who want to make it for the school supplies be ready to be there early. Backpacks typically are gone within the first hour, but families are encouraged to have some fun with all that is going on at the YMCA.
