Forecast: rain chances and a return of the heat

Thursday will be another in a string of nice days, then clouds build in for Friday. It appears we’ll see a few light showers pass through the state during the afternoon hours. Another chance for rain comes during the morning hours Saturday, as shown in the following images. Amounts through Saturday morning look to be light.

We’ve had a relatively cool August, but it looks as if we’ll be reminded by Sunday that it’s still summer in Iowa for roughly another month as dewpoints build into the next work week and the beginning of school for most.

The Climate Prediction Center’s forecasts below keep us in the average precipitation range and give us the likelihood of warmer-than average temperatures. Things look to cool a bit as we then move into September.
