ALTOONA, Iowa — A church had to be evacuated in Altoona Monday morning after construction workers nearby punctured a natural gas line.

It happened near the intersection of 8th Street SW and 17th Avenue SW around 8:15 a.m. according to the Altoona Fire Department. The crew ruptured an eight-inch gas line.
