ANKENY, Iowa — An Ankeny man is facing several charges, including OWI, after police say he crashed into a store over the weekend.

At around 1 p.m. on Sunday the Ankeny Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle that had crashed into the Fit to be Tied store in the 200 block of SE Oralabor Road. The vehicle, a Chevrolet Silverado, had crashed through the front windows, drove through the store, and came to a stop at the back of the store. No injuries were reported.

According to a criminal complaint, the driver of the Silverado, 58-year-old Aaron Ray Hodges, told officers he was traveling eastbound on Oralabor Road prior to the crash, but he didn’t remember leaving the roadway or crashing into the store.

Officers noted an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Hodges and noted that he had blood shot watery eyes and slurred speech, the complaint states.

Hodges was arrested and charged with operating while under the influence, failure to maintain control, and reckless driving.
