Forecast: Running out of adjectives

After a stormy evening and overnight across central Iowa, we’ve seen the sun break free again late this afternoon and evening. Below, some of the rainfall amounts that were received:

Last night’s cold front has ushered in cooler and drier air, and we have a clear and nice overnight ahead!

As we head into the weekend and next week, dewpoints will drop again behind a cold front Saturday evening, setting up a streak of comfortable conditions.

The jetstream configuration for the beginning of the upcoming week has a ridge aloft across the warm west and parts of the central U.S. This means we’ll see dry and mild conditions.

The 6-to-10-day outlook keeps us in slightly below average temperatures September 5-9, but the 8-to-14-day outlook moves is into a warmer pattern.
