    We began the day with a cool morning, but drier air and sunshine quickly exceeded our Friday high in Des Moines.

    August was kind of a streaky month, with cool State Fair weather bookended by warmer stretches.

    As we head into the week, cool and dry conditions will be around through Tuesday. We expect the mercury and dewpoints to rise Wednesday into Thursday, as seen in the forecasts below. A cold front will move across Iowa again Thursday, giving us a rain chance.

    Cooler-than-average temperatures look to be around for most of the first part of September, with a warming trend possible again by the middle of the month. Rain chances look to be low in general.
