    Search warrant reveals possible illegal animal gaming, police investigate

    CINCINNATI, Iowa — The Appanoose County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant revealing over 400 roosters believed to be part of illegal animal contests.

    On Wednesday, around 7:20 a.m. the Appanoose County Sheriff’s office carried out a search warrant at 27702 Highway 5 in rural Cincinnati.

    Man arrested in connection to Carlisle bank robbery

    The search warrant alleged that the household was in violation of Iowa Code 717D, which concerns animal contest events. The search focused on evidence of possession, breeding, training, transfer, and sale of animals used for animal contest or gaming events.

    The search revealed over 400 roosters and hens on the property.

    A seizure in place order was served by the District Court. The investigation is still ongoing, no charges have been filed.
