INDIANOLA, Iowa — The Indianola School Board decided not to vote on a measure that would have changed the school’s logo and mascot.

Four years ago the City of Indianola removed all Native American imagery from its logos. Shortly after the Indianola School Board took up the discussion of following suit, but paused the discussions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

At a packed board meeting Monday night members heard from parents, students, and others with a range of opinions about the school potentially dropping the Indians mascot and changing the logo.

The motion failed to receive the two votes necessary to move forward.
