PHOTOS: Des Moines firefighters battle house fire Tuesday afternoon

DES MOINES, Iowa — Des Moines firefighters battled a house fire on the city’s northside Tuesday afternoon.

At around 3:30 p.m. the Des Moines Fire Department responded to a 911 call reporting heavy smoke coming from a home in the 3900 block of 11th Street. When firefighters arrived on scene they found smoke coming from the attic area.

The fire department said the three residents were not home at the time. No injuries were reported.

A WHO 13 crew on scene saw heavy smoke as well as flames coming from the roof of the home.

Fire investigators are on scene to determine the cause of the fire, the department said.
