Football Friday Primetime Coaches Corner: Dowling vs. Ankeny

DES MOINES, IOWA — Football Friday Primetime is back for the 2024 season. On September 13th, we will bring you the first live Friday night football game of the season on WHO 13 as the Dowling Catholic Maroons travel to Ankeny to take on the Hawks. The game will be the first of five straight Fridays of live high school football on WHO 13.

The Ankeny Hawks saw their 2023 season come to an end in the quarterfinals of the 5A football playoffs against the Johnston Dragons. The Hawks are off to an 0-2 start in 2024 with losses to Ankeny Centennial and Southeast Polk to start the season.

The Maroons saw their season end at the UniDome last season as well with a semi-final loss to West Des Moines Valley. Dowling cleansed their palate of that loss by knocking off the Tigers last week. Dowling is undefeated to start the season.

WHO 13 Sports Director Keith Murphy and Justin Surrency welcomed Ankeny Head Coach Jeff Bauer and team captain Lukis Beroth as well as Dowling Head Coach Tom Wilson and team captain Cartyr Smith for the Football Friday Primetime Coaches Corner.

Friday’s game can be seen on WHO 13 and streaming live at who13.com starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 13th.
