Oscar is a six-year-old North American porcupine who spends his time chilling at the Critter Corner and makes frequent appearances at special events. Oscar’s campaign focuses on expanding educational resources for the zoo.

13-year-old Deuce, an African lion, holds a powerful presence in the Great Cats area. Being a natural leader in the animal kingdom makes him a strong choice for the zoo’s new mayor. Deuce is a strong supporter of the “Expand the Impact” campaign and wants to bring improvement and growth to the zoo.

Kitsi, a Japanese macaque, brings 18 years of experience and wisdom to the table. Kitsi is part of the AZA Species Survival Plan and would like to focus on maintaining the long-term health of the zoo and its inhabitants.

The election runs till Tuesday, November 5. Each dollar you donate equals one vote for your preferred candidate.

“Each of our three candidates brings something special to the table, and we look forward to seeing how they will lead our zoo into the future,” Anne Shimerdla, Blank Park Zoo President & CEO said. “We encourage everyone to get involved, cast their votes, and help us celebrate the unique qualities of these incredible animals throughout this 2024 election season.”

If you want to meet the candidates, they can be seen doing “meet and greets” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily in their respective habitats.
