    1 dead, 1 injured in fiery crash involving UTV in eastern Iowa

    BLACK HAWK COUNTY, Iowa — One person died Monday afternoon and another was injured after a UTV and a car collided in Black Hawk County.

    The Iowa State Patrol said the crash happened around 2:20 p.m. at the intersection of W. Cedar Wapsie Road and N. Union Road. That’s about five miles northwest of Cedar Falls.

    Police identify victim in deadly Des Moines shooting

    According to the ISP crash report, a Polaris Ranger UTV was traveling northbound on N. Union Road and failed to yield as it turned left in front of a southbound Chrysler 200. The vehicles collided and came to rest in the southwest ditch, where the UTV caught fire.

    The driver of the UTV, 56-year-old Andrew Clark of Cedar Falls, died in the crash. The driver of the car, 41-year-old Karl Tompkins of Ryan, was injured. The ISP report did not provide information on Tompkins’ condition.

    The investigation into the crash continues.
