One injured in eastside Des Moines shooting on Wednesday

DES MOINES, Iowa — One person was injured in a shooting on the eastside of Des Moines Wednesday afternoon.

At around 5:20 p.m. the Des Moines Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 2800 block of East University Avenue. According to a DMPD post on X , the victim called 911 and reported being shot and that the suspect fled from the scene. The victim’s condition is not known at this time.

Police said the scene is secure and that there is no ongoing danger to the public. More information will be released when made available.
