Des Moines Police investigating suspicious death of woman

DES MOINES, Iowa — A death investigation is underway after Des Moines Police say a woman died under suspicious circumstances on Wednesday.

At around 5:25 p.m. the Des Moines Police and Fire Departments responded to a report of a medical emergency at a home in the 1500 block of Capitol Avenue. When first responders arrived on scene they found an adult female in cardiac arrest. The woman was transported to a hospital where she later died.

According to police, circumstances surrounding the woman’s death were deemed suspicious.

There is no known ongoing danger to the neighborhood, police said. The public can expect an increased police presence in the area of Capitol Avenue while the investigation continues.
