DES MOINES, Iowa — Firefighters in Des Moines responded to a commercial structure fire around 9:30 Friday night.

The address, 3535 Southwest 56th Street, belongs to Siegwerk USA, a commercial ink manufacturer. Crews had a handle on the fire within half-an-hour and worked through the late-night hours to ventilate the building.

Des Moines Police closed down eastbound Park Avenue at SW 56th Street, and asked residents to stay alert for first responders and to expect temporary traffic delays, via the agency’s X account, formerly known as Twitter. The roadway has since reopened.

There have been no details yet on what caused the fire or how much damage the building sustained. WHO 13 has reached out to Siegwerk USA and has not yet heard back.
