IOWA CITY — The University of Iowa confirmed Monday that two offensive players are leaving the Hawkeye football program.

Wide receiver Kaleb Brown and running back Leshon Williams both informed head coach Kirk Ferentz of their intentions to enter the transfer portal. Both Brown and Williams played in fewer than four games this season, which allows both to use a redshirt and retain a season of eligibility.

Brown transferred to Iowa from Ohio State in 2023 and was expected to make an impact, but only caught 23 passes for 233 yards and one touchdown during his time in Iowa City. He had just one catch for 13 yards this season.

Brown was charged with OWI in June and was suspended for Iowa’s season opener against Illinois State.

Williams was the Hawkeyes’ leading rusher last season, running for 821 yards and a touchdown, but got injured this year and slid down the depth chart. Williams hasn’t played in either of Iowa’s Big Ten games this season, and rushed for just 21 yards in three games.

Iowa (3-2, 1-1 Big Ten) is home against Washington on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
