A North Carolina man's dream of winning a big lottery prize finally came true after he recently scored an impressive $1 million prize from a $10 scratch-off ticket.

Frederick Perry , of Erwin, always knew he would be one of the lucky lottery players who scored a massive win after reading stories from other winners, according to a release from the NC Education Lottery .

"I always said, ' That's going to be me one day ,'" he said.

That day finally came last week when Perry purchased an Ultimate Dash ticket from the Triton Quick Mart on East Jackson Boulevard, a game he told lottery officials he's "been playing ... ever since it came out." His lucky ticket scored him one of the game's $1 million prizes.

"I couldn't believe it," he said. "I just got lucky I guess."

Perry claimed his prize at lottery headquarters on Thursday (August 15), choosing to receive his win as either an annuity of $50,000 over the course of 20 years or as a one time, lump sum payment of $600,000. In the end, he chose the latter and took home a grand total of $429,003 after all required state and federal tax withholdings.

According to lottery officials, the Harnett County man plans to use his new winnings to buy a truck as well as a home for his family.
