    Property taxes are the lifeblood of local government, but officials, residents hate to adjust them

    we need luxury taxes! on anything that is luxury. if you can afford luxury items then you can certainly afford to be taxed on fact items. fancy cars, purses, furniture, yachts etc!

    When a politician raises property taxes it can kill their careers. Sometimes the problem isn't that they raise them. The problem can be how much they raise them at once. A Governor or State senator has a better chance of slowly raising them (half a percent or 1 percent a year). Compared to the ones that try to do 5% in one go. The one that does it slowly gives the people time to adjust to it and budget better for it.
