Believed Herb Baumeister Victims Will Be Honored Next Week

WESTFIELD, Ind. — If you are a longtime Hoosier, you probably know Herb Baumeister as a believed serial killer who once lived in Westfield. Now, groups are working together to honor his possible victims.

Police believe Baumeister mainly brought gay men back to Fox Hollow Farm in the ’80s and ’90s. About 10,000 bones and fragments have been found there, though only nine victims have been id’ed .

Now, He Knows Your Name ministry and the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office want to honor those victims and their families, as well as the others who have yet to be named.

They will be hosting a dedication and funeral service on August 29th at the Prairie Waters Event Center. You are encouraged to join other community members in remembering men like Jeffery Jones .

In a press conference Thursday, leaders of both organizations also stressed how important DNA technology has been for identifying the remains.

They urged anyone with a missing friend or family member to submit DNA samples to a national database, even if that person is not connected to Fox Hollow Farm. They said growing the database can help investigators across the country.
