TERRE HAUTE — Indiana State University reported a reduction in campus enrollment this fall, with a five percent drop from the previous year.

The institution blames this reduction on FAFSA application delays and demographic trends. ISU also reported that fewer high school grads are choosing to attend college.

To address this tendency, ISU implemented several steps to increase enrollment. These include eliminating the $25 application fee for domestic undergraduates, providing automatic admission to applicants with a 3.0 or better GPA, and reforming enrollment management leadership to reinstall a Vice President of Enrollment Management.

Meanwhile, attendance in the honors college and among overseas students has increased, demonstrating ISU’s attraction to academically gifted and foreign students. The administration is confident that these adjustments will help to reverse the negative trend and boost the university’s future enrollment levels.
