Free Parvo Vaccination Clinic Has Vaccinated Over 300 Dogs

INDIANAPOLIS — Indy’s Parvo Prevention Project is offering a free vaccination clinic for dogs early to mid-Saturday, October 12th from 11:00 to 3:00 at LifeJourney Church.

This event is hosted by LDR Rescue with vaccines supplied by Petco Love, and the clinic will provide protection against distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, and Parvovirus (DHPP)

“Too many dogs aren’t getting the affordable and effective vaccinations for the highly lethal, expensive-to-treat Parvovirus, and the results are heartbreaking,” said Robin Herman, the founder of LDR Rescue, the organizer of the event.

Herman said the circumstance is especially regrettable, given the low cost of the vaccine.

“When new puppy owners meet with most vets for the first time, they are confronted with packaged options that can run up to several hundred dollars,” she said. “If they do nothing else, they should ask for the Parvo vaccine, which can cost as little as $16.”

Herman, who has rescued more than 1,400 dogs in her career, said the goal of Indy’s Parvo Prevention Project is to vaccinate 500 dogs at the clinic and then conduct other events throughout the year.

Dogs will be microchipped to assist veterinarians in reuniting lost pets with their owners, along with vaccinations. Church staff will also be present to bless the dogs and their families. The first event saw 385 dogs vaccinated.

These vaccines are part of their mission to strengthen communities and promote pet health, which were all donated by Petco Love.
