    WFPD increasing patrols for July 4 fireworks complaints

    WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — Thursday is Independence Day, and Wichita Falls police want to remind you that possessing or discharging fireworks in the city is against the law.

    WFPD public information officer Brian Arias said more officers would patrol and answer calls for fireworks. He added that off-duty officers will work overtime to respond to fireworks complaints.

    Where and when firewaorks are legal in Texas in 2024

    Anyone caught setting off or possessing fireworks could be fined and their pyrotechnics seized.

    “If a police officer does arrive and sees you doing such a thing, we will take possession of the fireworks and firecrackers to be disposed of with the fire department, and a potential fine up to $2,000 citation will be issued,” Arias said.

    Though the city does not allow fireworks within its limits, s everal Texoma cities are putting on their own displays on Wednesday or Thursday.
