WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — A Wichita Falls mother who was arrested for drug possession in a motel room in April is now charged with child endangerment after police say her one and three-year-old children tested positive for meth.

Tiffany Mays was arrested Sunday, July 14, at the Walmart on Lawrence Road for shoplifting and then charged with child endangerment cases, which had been filed after the drug tests returned on the children.

She had been arrested at the Red Roof Inn on Central Freeway in April after a woman reported to police officers, who were there on a separate case, that there was a drug transaction made in a room with a one-year-old child inside.

Police said Mays answered the door and said the child in the room was hers, and when asked where the meth was, she retrieved and gave it to the officer.

Officers also found a glass pipe with burnt meth residue on the bathroom countertop.

After giving custody of the child to a family member of Mays, police learned another child of Mays was with a relative.

Both children were tested for drugs, and police say both tested positive for meth and marijuana in May.

Details released: Two charged with capital murder for June shooting

Besides the new arrest for theft, police said Mays has three prior theft convictions.
