Sikes Senter has sold to Summit Properties USA out of New York.

Wichita Falls Chamber of Commerce President Ron Kitchens confirmed the sale at a meeting of the city's Economic Development Corporation on Thursday.

After the meeting, Kitchens said the chamber found out about the sale to Summit around July 3. The company has over 20 malls in its holdings.

Sikes Senter is listed on Summit's website as a 59.8 acre site with a total lettable area of 668,848 square feet.

The mall, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this October, was sold by Kohan Retail Investment Group, a New York company that specializes in buying distressed malls.

The mall sold to Kohan in February 2022, and in the intervening time has seen the departure of several major retailers, beginning with Dillard's Department Store and more recently the announcement that JCPenney's, a legacy anchor store, was closing.

Wichita County tax rolls show the value of the mall at about $22 million currently — down from $44 million in 2021.
