WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL )— Companies across the United States are recovering after a tech outage caused numerous issues overnight.

In Wichita Falls, United Regional Medical Center was affected, but the majority of their systems have been restored and are resuming normal operations. Elsewhere in the country, other businesses are still struggling.

The technology responsible for the outage, called Crowdstrike, is an Austin-based cybersecurity technology firm that provides cloud workload protection and services for threat intelligence and cyberattack response. Crowdstrike CEO George Kurtz said a patch was out to fix the issue, but some systems affected by the outage could be up and running immediately while others might take longer.

United Regional Physician Group and the hospital were the hardest hit in Wichita Falls. According to an earlier statement from United Regional , they were forced to cancel and reschedule several appointments and procedures at the physician group due to the outage, along with non-emergent procedures at the hospital.

Other businesses affected by the outage the heaviest were airlines. Flights were grounded and cancelled across the country. Both DFW Airport and Dallas Love Field put out tweets saying to check your flight status with the airline before heading to the airport. Some airlines like American Airlines, were able to re-establish operations as of 5:00 a.m. Delta, however, was hit much harder, cancelling and delaying 39% of the day’s flights.

While United Regional is resuming regular operations, other groups like the WFISD might not be back up and running until a later date. Be sure to contact any local businesses that you’re involved with to see how they’re faring.

Crowdstrike put out a statement early during the outage to say the issues were not due to a cyberattack.
