WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — The last remaining anchor store at Sikes Senter Mall in Wichita Falls is set to close its doors, adding to a long list of national retailers that have departed from the mall in recent years.
At Home, a national discount home furnishings retailer, will soon close its doors at Sikes Senter for good, an employee confirmed to our crew on Thursday afternoon, July 25, 2024.
According to the employee, At Home workers were notified of the impending closure just recently, and the liquidation sales will begin on Friday, July 26, when the store officially makes the announcement and hangs store closing signs.
As of this story’s publication, the store’s official closing date is unclear, but an employee told our crew that the company does not plan to relocate or build a new location in Wichita Falls.

The employee added that no currently existing structures in Wichita Falls are large enough to hold At Home’s current inventory, and they were told that the store isn’t profitable enough to warrant the construction of a new location.
The news of At Home’s closing comes just a week after Wichita Falls Chamber President and CEO Ron Kitchens announced Sikes Senter Mall was under new ownership after the Kohan Group, who bought the mall in 2022, sold the mall to Summit Properties USA, who previously owned a portion of the mall.

When Sikes Senter Mall opened in 1974, the three original anchors JC Penney, Dillard’s, and Perkins. When Perkins closed, Dillard’s took that space for an additional store. In 1991, Sears opened in Sikes Senter Mall as another anchor. It closed its doors in 2015, and At Home moved into the mall the following year as an anchor.
Sikes Senter Mall hasn’t been the sole source of national retailers moving out of Wichita Falls. On July 16, another major home furnishings store, Conns HomePlus , announced it would be closing its doors in Wichita Falls soon.
