WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Volunteers from local law enforcement agencies and first responders hosted the last day of L.A.W. Camp on Thursday.

The camp gives kids aged 10-14 the chance to get out and learn about law enforcement.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office is one of the law enforcement agencies that put on the camp, along with the Wichita Police Department, McConnell Air Force Base, and others.

They all teach middle schoolers what being an officer is all about.

The SCSO says this is a great way to interact with the younger generation.

“This teaches them that the person who may be responding to an accident or responding to some kind of a call, that they’re just normal people and that they are trying to help them,” said SCSO Colonel Keith Allen.

Officers also used L.A.W. Camp to teach kids about the danger of drugs and how One Pill Can Kill .
