WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Residents across the Wichita area gathered to celebrate the Fourth of July with parades.

In Haysville, people lined the streets on Grand Avenue Thursday morning. As part of the parade, an all-women Jeep club rolled through. Group members say the women are fierce, spirited and encouraging. They do several events showcasing what they love.

“Family-friendly fun, a love for our Jeeps, we love our Jeeps,” Jennifer Halda and Nicole McKinley, Kansas Jeep Vixens, said.

Haysville will have a concert at Riggs Parks starting at 7:30 p.m. Fireworks begin at about 9:45 p.m.

Wichita’s Crown Heights neighborhood parade drew hundreds of participants and spectators.

The parade is celebrating its 44th year. It started as a small procession with a few decorated bikes. It now has floats, cars and pets.

“We are helping carry on that tradition. It came to us a couple of years ago, and a couple of years from now, someone else will take it and run it for the neighborhood,” Jason Kraus, parade goer, said.

Thirty different awards were given during the parade. They included the most historical to the cutest pet.
