WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A fire damaged a building in the 400 block of North Seneca Friday morning. The building is just south of Seneca and McLean Boulevard.

Sedgwick County dispatchers said that the first firefighters to arrive reported smoke coming from the building.

Wichita Fire Department Captain Daniel Houser said crews entered the building, found the fire and extinguished it.

“It appears to be vacant. It was boarded up, but we still get inside, do a search, make sure,” he said. “We did not find anybody inside.”

Houser said six to seven engine companies, three to four aerial companies, both rescue companies, and a handful of other firefighters and crews from downtown Wichita responded to the fire. Fire trucks blocked multiple lanes of Seneca during the fire.

WFD investigators are looking for the cause of the fire.
