GOVE COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) — Two people were seriously injured in a crash in northwest Kansas Sunday afternoon.

Person critically injured after being stabbed in downtown Wichita

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, at 2:40 p.m., a 62-year-old man from St. Charles, Missouri, was driving a 2011 Ford Expedition eastbound on Interstate 70 just less than 5 miles east of Quinter. With him was a 64-year-old woman also from St. Charles, Missouri.

The KHP says that for an unknown reason, the back right tire came off the vehicle, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle then spun toward the south shoulder, overturned and came to a stop upside down in the ditch to the south.

Both the driver and his passenger were taken with serious injuries to a local hospital.
