Former President Donald Trump narrowly escaped with his life in an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania. KNSS News asked Wichita Mayor Lilly Wu for a comment. She says "we in Wichita try to focus on activities to reduce violence and try to bring peace and unity." She says violence is not "the key."

At Tuesday's meeting the Wichita City Council will look City Manager Robert Layton's proposed budget for next year. Mayor Wu tells KNSS News the budget carries a 55 million-dollar deficit and the council will have to make "tough decisions" on spending taxpayers' dollars. She promises to protect the wages and benefits of some 3,000 city employees.

Wu commented during Mondays with the Mayor, on the Steve and Ted in the Morning Show on KNSS.
