Wichita car dealership gathers bikes to donate to kids

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Rusty Eck Ford gathered bikes in early July to donate to kids in the community.

“Throughout the entire month, customers actually brought bikes into Rusty Eck Ford, and then, we collected those, and at the end of the month, we are donating those to the charity, so that is where these are coming from,” said Rusty Eck Ford E-Commerce Director Mike Gisick. “We purchased 10 bikes ourselves that we’re passing out, but the others have come from our customers.”

Rusty Eck Ford was able to give the bikes to some of the children at Faith Builders on Wednesday afternoon.

“To see these kids riding the bikes and having fun with them, I think it really brought it full circle for us,” said Gisick. “You give a lot of time to charity, but you never actually see the benefits of it. This is a chance where, right now, I’m watching kids riding bikes, and it’s, the smiles on their faces are worth it.”

Alexandria is one of the children who got surprised with a bike on Wednesday. She chose a “Frozen” one.

“I’m gonna ride it at home, at the park, at my school,” said Alexandria. “And I have a little bell on my bike, too.”

Faith Builders is on of many local charities receiving bikes to give to kids.
