WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Farnborough International Air Show ended in England on Friday, and Wichita played a major role.

Sedgwick County Commissioner Pete Meitzner was in attendance and said local aviation leaders stayed busy, meeting with other aviation groups around the world.

“So many people were coming up from other states companies, even many countries, saying, ‘Well you guys have it all, and we need to be here. We have to be here. We want to set up an office here,'” Meitzner told KSN.

Meitzner also said no other state had representatives on the local, state and national level at the event.

Kansas senator Jerry Moran was also at the air show and said earlier this week that Wichita needs to remain the Air Capital of the World.

“We’ve got to do everything together to make sure that Wichita, Kansas, remains the air capital,” Moran said. There is a lot of interest in these companies, but while the competition is increasing, so are our capabilities.”
