Man sent to hospital after being shot in Wilkes-Barre

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man was sent to the hospital after police say he was shot while sitting in his car in Wilkes-Barre.

According to the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department, Tuesday just after midnight officers were dispatched to an area emergency room for a report of a gunshot victim.

Upon arrival, officers said the victim told them he was sitting in his car in the area of South Main and West South streets when a man wearing a ski mask approached him.

The suspect opened the driver’s side door and began hitting him in the face, then ordered him to exit the car, officials note.

Police say the suspect waved the gun and then shot the victim once in the arm.

Officials note this is an ongoing investigation.
