WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A reminder for those in Wilkes-Barre, an ordinance passed last year makes it illegal to set off fireworks within 150 feet of an occupied structure.

Most fireworks you can buy in stores will be illegal to set off in the Diamond City.

This comes after many noise complaints, fires, injuries, and damage caused by fireworks over the past few years.

In the state, you can buy and use consumer-grade fireworks such as firecrackers, bottle rockets, and similar fireworks that contain a maximum of 50 milligrams of explosive material.

Display fireworks in the state of Pennsylvania are still only to be used by professionals with a permit from the municipality where the display will take place.
