This is the office of Will County Coroner Laurie H. Summers reporting the death of Joliet Fire Department Captain Kevin M. Hargis a 51 year old Plainfield man who was pronounced deceased on Saturday June 29th, 2024 at 9:15 a.m. at his residence of probable natural causes. The Joliet police Department is investigating the incident. An Autopsy was performed on Sunday June 30th, 2024. Final cause and manner will be determined following Autopsy, Police and Toxicological reports.

Will County: WNV Detected in Mosquitoes
The Will County Health Department’s Environmental Health division announced mosquitoes collected in Joliet have tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV). These results represent the first WNV positive mosquitoes identified in Will County this year, and residents are reminded to protect themselves from mosquito bites and mosquito-borne diseases. No human cases of West Nile Virus have been reported so far this year.

The Tackle Box bait shop will supply the chalk. Take a picture and text it to the entry number found at the concessions building to enter. Make sure to include the artist’s name. One entry per artist. Winners will be picked in three categories: most creative, most nature-themed and best artist in the making. This free event is for all ages.
3 men from Kendall, Will counties, charged in connection with human trafficking
Three men, two from Kendall County and one from Will County, have been charged as part of an Illinois State Police effort to crack down on human trafficking. Nathanael Beckley, 34, of Bolingbrook, has been charged with traveling to meet a child. Salvo Campagna, 39, of Plano, and Marcus Ramirez, 26, of Sandwich, have both been charged with indecent solicitation of a child, traveling to meet a child and solicitation to meet a child, according to a news release from the Illinois State Police.
