Mendon Pioneer Week concludes on Saturday July 27 | News
MENDON – When it comes to Pioneer Day in Cache Valley, it’s hard to beat Mendon’s week-long Pioneer Day celebration. Wednesday, July 24, activities include Family Canoe Nite at 6 p.m. and Adult Canoe Race to begin at 6:30 p.m. The canoe activities are to be held at the swamp on the Valley View Highway.
Singer/songwriter Peter Breinholt returns to Tooele for Fridays on Vine performance
As the Fridays on Vine concert series winds down to its final three nights, this week’s performer returns to Tooele to share his talents as a singer/songwriter. During a 2019 Ted Talk, given in front of an audience at Brigham Young University, artist Peter Breinholt recalled a childhood moment that proved to be transformative. While listening to the song “God Only Knows,” by The Beach Boys, Breinholt felt deeply moved by the song’s final minute which featured a round of harmonious music and singing by the group.
Mud springs mountain bike trail system receives $350k in grant funding
A highly anticipated mountain bike trail system, Mud Springs, is estimated to have an economic effect of around $4.5 million dollars annually once it’s completed, according to an impact analysis. The project could take many years to complete, but phase one of four is expected to be done in fall 2025 or 2026.
Mike Trout not in minor league lineup, returning to Angels for evaluation after injury setback in rehab start
Mike Trout lasted two inning into the first game of his return from knee surgery in his attempted comeback from a meniscus tear. The Los Angeles Angels announced that Trout left Tuesday's game with Triple-A Salt Lake Bees because of knee soreness. On Wednesday, the Angels announced that Trout would not be in the Bees lineup and returning to the Angels for evaluation. Further details of his condition were not immediately clear.
Motorcycle rider killed in crash on St. George Boulevard overpass
ST. GEORGE — A crash reconstruction team was called out to a motorcycle crash that killed one person on an Interstate 15 overpass late Wednesday night. Shortly after 10 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a crash on the St. George Boulevard overpass of I-15 involving a motorcycle with two riders. Both were transported to St. George Regional Hospital via a Gold Cross Ambulance. The motorcycle driver was reportedly pronounced dead shortly after arrival, while the passenger sustained serious injuries, St. George Police Officer Tiffany Mitchell told St. George News.
