KEWANEE, Ill. (KWQC) - A storm that moved across Iowa and Illinois into Indiana and Ohio has been classified as a derecho by the Storm Prediction Center. A derecho is defined as a line of intense, widespread, and fast-moving windstorms, that sometimes include thunderstorms. The storm moves across a long distance and includes damaging winds.
Peoria Mayor Rita Ali running for re-election

185 runners head to Memphis to run 465 miles for St. Jude
PEORIA (25News Now) — They’re putting the ‘fun’ in fundraising. Almost 200 runners heading south to start their 465-mile journey back home to Peoria. On Tuesday morning, families, friends, and supporters gave a proper send-off at the Bob Lindsay Rental Car Center for the 43rd Annual St. Jude Memphis to Peoria Run.

It's the calm after the storm
After 2 consecutive nights of severe weather, things will quiet down the next several days. Highs on Tuesday will be in the mid 80s but cooler and drier air move in late week with highs in the upper 70s Wednesday then highs around 80 Friday through the weekend. Long range models are advertising low rain chances over the next 10 days and no sign of oppressive heat and humidity.
Widespread Power Outages and Damage Following Strong Storms
There are widespread power outages throughout the area. Thousands are without power in the immediate area. There are trees down, power lines down, roads are blocked, highways are blocked, so stay home if possible. Travel will be difficult. Parts of Kewanee got more than 70 mph winds. PLEASE stay home. Many, many roads are blocked by trees and utility lines and police and fire need room to do their jobs.
