OBITUARY: Thomas J. Sheehan
Thomas J. Sheehan, 78, of Spring Hill, TN, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024, after an extended illness. Tom was born in Long Branch, NJ, and raised in Leonardo, NJ. He graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School, Saint Joseph’s University, and Fairleigh Dickinson University. He was employed in numerous technical and managerial positions at Fort Monmouth for 34 years, retiring as Associate Director for Operations at the Research Development and Engineering Center in 2001. During his time at Fort Monmouth, he was awarded the Department of the Army Meritorious Civilian Service Award (1996). He served as President of the Fort Monmouth Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications Electronics Association (AFCEA) and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Garden State Chapter of the Association of Old Crows.

2x Breast Cancer Survivor Shares Her Story
In 2003, Beverly McClarn was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer, which came as a complete surprise. She has her daughter to thank for catching it early. “My daughter was the one who encouraged me to go to the doctor when I felt a small nodule in my left breast,” said McClarn. “She had just learned in school that if there are any unknown bumps or lumps that you should always get them checked out. So, I made an appointment, and I’m so thankful that I did.”

The Franklin Police Department is inviting the community to attend its inaugural Chicken with a Cop gathering this Wednesday at Chick-fil-A at 2016 Columbia Ave. From 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m., police officers will be at the restaurant with their vehicles for a meet and greet and touch-a-truck event. Nick Paul’s overtime goal lifted the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 3-2 victory over the Nashville Predators on Monday night at Amalie Arena. The win improved Tampa Bay’s record to 6-3-0, while Nashville dropped to 3-5-1. The Lightning built a 2-0 lead in the first period through goals from Brayden Point and Mitchell Chaffee. Nashville responded in the second, with Ryan O’Reilly scoring on the power play and Gustav Nyquist adding an equalizer. Paul then ended it 3:22 into overtime, converting off a feed from Jake Guentzel.
